90th Annual Council

Council business will begin at 2pm on Friday January 23, 2009.  Clergy and clergy spouses will have meetings Friday before the beginning of Council at 10am.  Registration will be available beginning November 17, 2008.

Parishes are reminded that according to Canon 2 sec. 7 they are to pay the resonable costs of Council for their delegates and alternates.  Parishes are also required to submit their 2007 Parish Audit and 2007 Parochial Report before receiving voice and vote at Council.

Saturday at Council Workshops are an offering of the Educational Consortium and are free of charge for visitors!

Registration is now closed.  You can register at Council and pay the late registration fee.  If your registration indicated you will pay by check, please bring that with you to Council.

Hotel Roanoke reservations must be completed separately from your registration for Council.  You can register online by visiting their website or calling 540-985-5900.  Rooms are available until January 11, 2009 or when the block is full, please reserve your room early.  The Group/Convention code for the event is EPL and the rate is $104.00.

Children of clergy, delegates, and alternates can attend Children at Council at no cost to them.  You must sign your children up when you register online.  Volunteers are needed to lead and organize activities during the weekend.  Donations of time and money are also requested to help fund this ministry.  You may contact Sally Vance at svance@mcps.org

Youth from 6th-12th grade can attend Youth at Council during the weekend.  You can find more information by going to the Youth website.  Please consider participating in "Eat in to Help Out", a fundraiser for Stop Hunger Now.  Over $16,000 is needed.

Young Adults at Council is a program for post-high-school age people provides an opportunity for young adults to:

  •   spend time with other young adults from across the diocese
  •   take part in workshops
  •   learn what Ubuntu means
  •   observe the work of the diocese in action
  •   make new friends and create new memories
  •   find out what is going on in the lives of other young adults

Whether you are in college, out of college or paved your own path this is a weekend to get away from the rush of every day life. Enjoy fellowship with other young adults in the diocese starting with dinner on Friday night at Christ Church, Roanoke. Participate in workshops at Hotel Roanoke on Saturday and package food for Stop Hunger Now with participants from C@C, Y@C and Adults@Council.
