Diocesan Outreach Committee

Our Outreach Committee is called to represent the love of Christ to those in human need through the allocation of funds to support individual and communal health and growth.

  • General Outreach Grants-- Grants are made to nonprofit groups which are not funded through the regular diocesan budget process. A General Outreach grant is not typically made to fund ongoing recurring items. As such, grants should be for one-time specific needs such as starting a new program or adding on a specific new part to an existing program. There is no specific grant amount. To request a General Outreach grant, submit the Grant Request Form. The deadline for general outreach grant requests is August 15th of each year.

  • The Annual St. Nicholas Day Appeal--St. Nicholas grants are awarded in alternate years for projects within the diocese and projects outside the diocese. The 2005 grant went to provide electricity to The Marc Nikkel School in the Sudanese Diocese of Bor. The 2006 grant went to establish a shelter for battered women in Altavista. To request a St. Nicholas grant, write a letter to the Outreach Committee giving complete details. The deadline for applying for a grant funded by the annual St. Nicholas Day Appeal is August 1st of each year.

Applications for either general outreach grants or St. Nicholas grants should be sent to:
